Maia Williamson
Maia has played basketball for as long as she can remember, playing in various competitions – school, club and reps.
She still plays in club competition, but has transitioned to have a focus on coaching.
She’s passionate about athlete mental health, and empowering young women, something she brings to her coaching where she has the chance to show girls the power they can have as successful athletes from a young age.
With an intuitive basketball IQ to see the game from a Coach’s perspective paired with her broadcast credentials there is no doubt that Maia will have a strong voice in elevating and advocating for the future of women hoops in NZ.
Maia was originally a guest on STB speaking on young female players in NZ – ‘Girls Can Hoop’ and is now a regular contributor on our Kiwi podcasts with a growing profile as a Sky Sports NZ commentator.
