Shooting The Breeze is an award winning podcast on women’s basketball and women in basketball. We focus on players, coaches, behind the scenes heroes and so many more of the amazing people who make women's hoops what it is in Australia and around the world.
After many years doing game film, live-streaming and providing live broadcast feeds to Foxtel and Kayo for the Sydney Flames everything came to a screeching halt in 2020.
COVID hit, lockdowns started and we didn’t know what would happen with the WNBL. Would there be a season? If there was how would it work and how do you keep fans engaged with players, teams and the league?
We started a podcast to keep the Sydney fans connected with the team and the players.
After a little planning Shooting The Breeze was born.
Our first episode was under 15 minutes long. We didn’t realise where it would take us.
Starting as a Sydney Flames focused pod we’ve grown to cover the WNBA, Euroleague, the Tauihi NZ and so much more.
We started 2026 with over 220 published episodes and launched a Women’s Basketball business feature pod called “Hoops Biz”.
Doing live podcasts from a wide variety of locations including the FIBA Women’s World Cup, the FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, the NBL1 Nationals, the WNBL Orange Carpet has been a core part of STB.
Road trips have taken us to Canberra, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Bendigo and Albury.
Recently we’ve connected with the team at Western Sydney University that delivers the Bachelor of Business in Sports Management.
This has given us an opportunity to speak with students and pay it forward by taking on an intern who has participated in many facets of the show’s production.
Collaborating with a wide range of voices on STB we help others get opportunities to raise their profile while elevating the women’s game.
Our passion is sharing the many stories from and around women’s hoops.
